I've discovered a new passion for photography. I personally don't have many skills when it comes to this, BUT I desperately want to learn.
Next purchase: a new, amazing camera :D PLEASE let me get some scholarships! (and get into Grad school for that matter)
In the meantime, here's some (many) amazing photographs I've been collecting on DeviantArt. Candy for the eyes.

In Between
Here's a work in progress I wrote the other day at my studio (the ONLY thing I've managed to write there so far). Any feedback would be awesome!
"In Between"
I
sit on pine swing
rough bow bending to
pine needle ground
dusty
In between hills
and tumbleweed and
tree fort next to
cow piss river
coyote tracks
and jumping cacti
clinging to pant leg
he
places his hands
on my knees
bare and scuffed
from climbing
he pushes
slides hands up thighs
grips ankles
releases
I pump my legs
quivering
branch and tree
and stomach

Oh, right.
All attempts at keeping this blog up to date and full of creative goodness are failing fast!
BUT, good news on the work front! Aside from actually getting my old (paying) job back at Sneaker's Bar (you can't eat volunteer work), I've been super busy with things that actually might get me somewhere closer to my future goals! No way you say? Not right out of University?? Yes way. And all my terrible thoughts of self defeat at the thought of being back at the Lotto booth are pushed to the back of mind in favour of creative energy flows zinging through my body, actually keeping me busy busy busy.
My work with Gallery Vertigo is actually starting to come together now! I'm helping run the Smarties' sunday shindigs, hosting a special showing of what we do there for the kids on the 9th for the Vernon Winter Carnival. Also in the works is a "summer camp" program for kids wanting to go into Creative Writing/art/performance that we'll actually get paid for doing! We're creating our own jobs! How awesome is that??
I don't have anything up in my studio yet... but that's a work in progress. I DO have a desk (on loan until I find something better), a swivel chair, a nice (*cough*IKEA*cough*) chair, and a funky table!... the extent of my studio! Yeah for not having a clue how to be visually creative just yet!
I will probably be putting a visual storyboard up when I start working on my novel, but that's all for later.
ALSO, Stuff with Other is going fantastic as well. We're gearing up for Issue 6, looking for submissions (send your stuff!) and looking into fundraising options.
I have to make posters like crazy next week!
Grad applications in on Monday! I've been putting them off as long as possible, I guess, as is what is normal for me, but all I have left to do are the edits for my portfolio, then I'm heading out that way to bring in my OC transcript.
...Having to hand in the rest electronically somehow makes the whole thing less dramatic, and therefore less satisfying. Damn the digital age!
Transcript in then possible victory drink at the Well? A few drinks? Hmmmm. Yes.

Gallery Vertigo
So I'm going to be renting a studio at Gallery Vertigo in Vernon for at least three months. I'm super excited about the prospect of having a place to escape to for my writing (some place without internet!). The communication with other artists in and outside the gallery will open up some new doors for me. Things are looking up!
We are launching our 5th issue with Other:______ Magazine soon! I'll get pictures for that.
In the works:
- I'll be joining a writing group with some friends online, so there is that added push to produce pages for my novel.
- Art Christmas presents! One for my Mom and Stepdad and one for my Bubbi. I'll post them here when I'm done (if they turn out)
Check out my project gallery on facebook here!

Date Rape: public service announcement
Hey guys, as my first post I figured, why not get up our Public Service Announcement we made for Daniel Keyes' Television Studies class. I'm not 100% pleased with the final product... there was some unexpected drama, and editing issues, and of course the 30 second time restraint was troublesome.
Date rape? I know. Totally awkward right. You should have heard us talking about how to approach this at school. I'm sure people thought we were complete sociopaths.
Here she be!
I'm still getting the hang of this blog thing... Not sure what to do yet.
